ECE alumni reunite and celebrate at San Francisco reunion

February 18, 2014

Alumni of The Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering reunited at Skule’s fourth annual Bay Area alumni reception on Tuesday, February 11 in San Francisco, California. More than 65 Skule graduates gathered at the Marriott Marquis to enjoy refreshments and catch up with classmates and professors, many of whom were in town for the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). Classes from 5T4 all the way to 1T3 were represented at the event.

The evening also celebrated Emeritus Professor K.C. Smith and Laura Fujino’s 40 years of leadership of ISSCC, a major destination for electrical engineers the world over in both academia and industry.

Dean Cristina Amon opened the evening, welcoming the alumni and sharing with the group the latest news on the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering’s Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

“This new centre, quite simply, allows engineering education and research to take the significant leap forward that we all believe is necessary,” said Dean Amon. “I am so proud of our graduates’ accomplishments and involvement here in the Bay Area, and we hope to build on your energy for an even stronger alumni community.”

“Coming to this reunion in San Francisco is a major highlight of my year,” said Professor Farid Najm, chair of ECE. “We have such a high concentration of talented alumni in the Bay Area and it’s a pleasure to reconnect with this group each year and hear about all they’ve achieved.”
